Faith Chaffee
Faith Chaffee, director and instructor, has been playing and studying the violin since the age of five. Her love of music and aptitude on her instrument has taken her to Interlochen, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and Bay View Music Conservatory. Faith has performed with various orchestras and ensembles throughout the state including Michigan Youth Symphony at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Alma Symphony Orchestra, Quartet Con Spirito, and Midland Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Alma College and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University. When not teaching, playing her violin, or giving private lessons, Faith enjoys being in the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and four mischievous cats!
Dr. Janette Caputo
Dr. Janette Caputo, instructor, began studying violin at age 6 and viola at age 11. She is Principal Violist for the Cadillac Symphony and a section violist in the Alma Symphony Orchestra and World Doctors Orchestra. She was also Principal Violist of Baroque on Beaver Music Festival for 9 years and has been a member of the Midland Symphony, Mt. Clemens Symphony, Plymouth Symphony, St. Clair Shores Symphony, Scandinavian Symphony, Germania Symphony, and Traverse City Symphony. Jan holds a PhD in education from Wayne State and a PsyD in clinical psychology from Central Michigan University. She is the author of a number of books in the fields of psychology and library science. Jan owns and runs ABC Music in Alma and volunteers in the community.
Renee Hahn
Renee Hahn, the instructor, graduated from Alma College with a B.A. in violin performance in 1986 and received her Provisional Teaching Certificate for K12 Instrumental Music from CMU in 1988. She started with the Gratiot-Isabella String Program in 1989, teaching in the Mt. Pleasant, Ithaca, St. Louis and Alma school systems. Renee and her husband Mark have 2 sons, Aaron and Kyle. Renee also works at the Alma United Methodist Church as the Worship Leader and Choir Director, is the Corporate Secretary for Twin City Landscape, Inc., and has several private string students.
